Location-Based Apps

Hyper-accurate location-based services

Traditional location-based services struggle to identify precise locations using a smartphone's GPS. However, hyper-accurate positioning can be achieved with highly localized emitters, such as Bluetooth beacons. This level of granularity opens up new design possibilities, such as enabling smartphone apps tailored to specific rooms or spaces.

Digital geocaches

If we are able to associate smartphone apps to a precise physical space, then we are able to introduce novel ways of asynchronous communication between two people who share the common space. This communication is a kind of digital geocache. In this example, a message is shared between two people in this digital geocache.
